BT Redcare Closure

Are you prepared for the withdrawal of BT Redcare?

You may have seen recent reports about BT’s decision to withdraw their Redcare alarm signalling service from the market. With the cut-off date of 1st August 2025 now only a matter of months away, it’s critical that businesses understand what this means and take action to stay protected.

What does this mean for your business?

BT Redcare is a widely used alarm signalling system that links monitored fire and security systems to Alarm Receiving Centres (ARCs). From August 2025, BT will no longer support this service, which means any monitored electronic systems using BT Redcare will need to be replaced or upgraded.

Failure to do so could not only impact your security but potentially invalidate your insurance cover. Many insurance policies require operational and approved alarm systems as part of their terms and conditions.

Why is this happening?

The withdrawal of Redcare comes as part of BT Openreach’s move to retire the traditional copper wire network, replacing it with modern digital technology and fibre optic cables. Alarm Transmission Systems (ATS) that rely on copper landlines may become unreliable—or cease working altogether—after this transition.

This is not a distant issue: the clock is ticking, and businesses must act quickly to assess whether their current systems will be impacted.

What should you do next?

We strongly recommend that you speak to your current fire and security systems provider to confirm whether your systems are affected and what their plan is to upgrade or replace them. If a change is needed, now is the time to start arranging alternative solutions.
